MSR Project:Adium Technologies was tasked with creating and building out WiFi and internet services throughout the 1000 acre property. This includes upgrading the existing (very small) amount of internet services that were previously provided by San Diego Broadband. Over 15 buildings across the reservation have been and will eventually be outfitted with fast, modern wireless internet access and 24/7 security camera video recording. Giving scouts, campers, and guests access to high speed internet to provide even more possibilities for future programs, events, and meetings. Built on donations, grants, and thousands of hours of volunteer work by local friends of scouting. All built on Ubiquiti's Unifi Network architecture.
We are constantly improving and building out Mataguay's network. If you would like to help, we really appreciate monetary donations or Unifi equipment. Want to donate directly to the Boy Scouts? We will get you in contact with their appointed donations official. To find out more, give us a call to see how you can help. Anything is greatly appreciated. |
MSR Story:Mataguay Scout Ranch (MSR) is nestled in the pines and oaks of the San Diego mountains, just 50 miles northeast of downtown San Diego. The 1000 acre property is owned and operated by San Diego-Imperial Council, a great destination for summer camp as well as year round camping. Open to all Scouting units and other non-Scout organizations. This includes Packs, Dens, Troops, Teams, Crews, church groups, clubs, and associations. Many of the camp's facilities are available for your unit's program including lodges, cabins, and administration. All campsites at Mataguay have KYBO's (latrines), running water, and campfire rings. There are also several large campfire rings on the reservation if you wish to put on a large program in the evening. On the grounds of the ranch itself, there are numerous hiking trails and areas to be explored.
Besides camping, hiking, and general outdoor fun, there are countless things to do at Mataguay during the year. Programs which are available include archery, swimming at the pools, boating at the lake, .22 rifle, black powder (muzzle loading) rifle, shot gun, and BB gun shooting. For older Scouts COPE and Climbing/Rappelling are also available. These programs can be tailored to meet your unit's goals from pleasure use to merit badge, advancement, and other special camp programs. Units can provide their own lifeguards and range masters, or these can be arranged through the Ranch Director. There are also several annual council sponsored programs including "Fun with Family" and Memorial Day family camping. And don't forget, Mataguay has one of the most exciting summer camp programs available at any camp in the BSA! Mataguay has an extensive equestrian program which includes the horsemanship merit badge and trail rides. Other summer program features include real glider flights, geocaching, mountain boarding, COPE and extensive instruction in over 40 merit badges. |
